CCP to stream 'Zsazsa Zaturnnah Ze Muzikal' in celebration of Pride Month

MANILA -- The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) is celebrating Pride Month by streaming "Zsazsa Zaturnnah Ze Muzikal" this weekend.

The 2011 archival recording of Tanghalang Pilipino's musical will premiere at 3 p.m. on June 20 on CCP's YouTube channel.

It stars Eula Valdez as Zsazsa Zaturnnah, with Tuxqs Rutaquio as Ada, Nar Cabico as Didi, Red Anderson as Dodong, and Kalila Aguilos as Queen Femina Suarestella Baroux.

Right after the premiere, cast members of past "Zaturnnah" stagings will hold a Zoom reunion which will be shown live on the CCP Facebook page and Vimeo channel.

At 3 p.m. on June 23, there will be a round-table discussion on the musical featuring members of the academe and the LGBTQIA community.

First staged in 2006, "Zsazsa Zaturnnah Ze Muzikal" is taken from the original comic book story written by Carlo Vergara, with libretto by Chris Martinez and direction by Chris Millado.

It enjoyed almost 6 years under the spotlight and has become Tanghalang Pilipino's longest-running show.
