MANILA -- To celebrate Independence Day, a local theater group is holding a concert of patriotic music, including a song Jose Rizal wrote in his novel "Noli Me Tangere."

"Reminiscences" is set to take place at the RCBC Plaza in Makati City this Tuesday (7 p.m.) and Wednesday (3 p.m. and 7 p.m). Ticket information is available at Ticketworld.

The concert will feature TRIBU, billed as a cast of artists from the musical theater world. The performers are Sweet Samaniego Buchanan, Margarita Toco, and Steven Hotchkiss.

The others are Terence Guillermo, Red Nuestro, Onyl Torres, and pianist Kim Dominik Sarmiento.

The concert will be divided into two parts, with the first half dedicated to folk songs which "encapsulates the beauty" of the music from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

The second half is composed mainly of patriotic songs many Filipinos seldom hear, like "Canto de Maria Clara," which is from one of the chapters of "Noli Me Tangere."

"Alerta, Katipunan!," a revolution song, and "Pag-ibig sa Tinubuan Lupa," a poem written by Andres Bonifacio, will also be performed.

"Reminiscences" is organized by the Ephesus Teatron Group Inc.
