MANILA – “I woke up as a meme.”

These were the words of Sorsogon bet Maria Isabela Galeria after pictures of her and Anne Curtis during the question-and-answer portion of the 2019 Binibining Pilipinas coronation night became an unexpected source of humor for some netizens post-pageant.

A glamorous Curtis, who co-hosted the event with Richard Gutierrez, would hand her microphone to each of the 15 candidates during the crucial portion.

All but Galeria took the mic to answer their respective question from a judge.

Explaining her side of the story, Galeria took to Instagram on Monday to say that she was nervous at the time.

“I honestly had no bad intentions towards @annecurtissmith I was just really nervous and was concentrating to answer the question being asked,” she wrote.

Saying it was a pleasure and inspiring to be in Curtis’ presence, Galeria added: “Anne is a superstar and was very kind, polite and gracious to all of us.”

Curtis responded to Galeria’s post and urged the Sorsogon beauty not to worry.

“All of you were nervous and had to concentrate on one of the most crucial parts of the pageant – Q&A. It was an honor to be of service to you and all the beautiful candidates. Ganyan lang talaga minsan. May mga kulit moments na hindi palalampasin ng Madlang People,” the actress said.

Curtis then congratulated Galeria for her top 15 finish at this year’s Binibining Pilipinas.
