Ging Reyes, head of ABS-CBN Integrated News & Current Affairs, poses with the 2 awards of ABS-CBN Corporation.

ABS-CBN Corporation bagged gold and bronze medals at the 2019 New York Festivals World's Best TV & Film Awards held in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The television plug "Elsa and Sarah" won the Gold World Medal award in the Station/Image Promotion category.

Ging Reyes, head of ABS-CBN Integrated News & Current Affairs, accepted the award on behalf of the News and Creative Communications teams who helped and promoted the story.

"The worst of times can indeed be the best of times for journalists. It is amazing to find countless people with very little means but who inspire us with their unbreakable spirit," Reyes said.

Taken from the "Mission Possible" episode "Kapit Ka Lang Anak," the plug tells the story of Elsa Badilla, a single mother who lost her vision to glaucoma, and her daughter Sarah who has Down Syndrome.

The plug shows the remarkable mother-daughter relationship and their determination to rise above whatever hardship that comes their way.

"Elsa and Sarah are just two of the millions of Filipinos who refuse to give up despite impossible odds," Reyes said.

Aside from fighting disinformation, Reyes said ABS-CBN is also committed to shining a light on issues that affect ordinary people like Elsa and Sarah, "giving them a voice, and in the process, helping to transform their lives."

"For a journalist, nothing can be more fulfilling than telling a story and being a force for good," she said.

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN's DocuCentral's "Local Legends: Karne Norte" bagged the bronze award for the Biography/Profiles category.

The episode shines a spotlight on traditional corned beef makers in Masbate.

Last year, ABS-CBN took home three medals with "Di Ka Pasisiil (Never Shall Be Conquered)" bagging the Gold World Medal award under the category of Continuing News Coverage.
