MANILA -- A Filipino-Belgian beauty representing Baguio City was crowned Face of Tourism Philippines 2019 during the coronation held last April 7 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

Roxanne Baeyens, 22, will represent and promote the Philippines as a major tourism destination in the Miss Tourism and Culture Universe in Myanmar.

Baeyens took to social media to thank the people who supported her.

"I can’t wait for the next chapter of my journey knowing I have a supportive family beside me," she wrote.

She likewise thanked the organizers for trusting and believing in her, as well as her fellow candidates.

"It makes me emotional, but I know this isn’t goodbye! It won't be! To my family, thank you. From the moment I started pageantry you were there through my defeat and success. The best part of my journey is seeing the sparkle in your eyes that shows how proud you are. I love you so much!" she added.

The beauty queen also expressed her gratitude to the city she represented, the summer capital of the Philippines.

"To the City of Baguio, thank you for the never ending support! It is my pride and honor to represent our city. PROUD CORDILLERAN!!!" she said.

According to its website, Face of Tourism Philippines is "an annual beauty search aims to bring the beauty, excitement and wonder of the Philippines to a wider audience by putting focus on the Philippine tourism industry and all its allied services and aspects."

The search gathers candidates from every region in the country and give them the platform to showcase their localities' natural wonders, history, heritage, festivals, traditions, arts, food and people.

Baeyens' Instagram post has received over 1,000 likes. Netizens also left messages congratulating her on her new journey.

She ended her post by saying, "See you soon Myanmar! I can’t wait to represent my home, my country this July."

Baeyens is not new to beauty pageants. Last year, she finished first runner-up in the Miss Silka Philippines 2018 pageant.
