MANILA -- Last year, April was declared as National Filipino Food Month with the signing of Presidential Proclamation No. 469 signed by President Rodrigo Duterte on April 13, 2018.

This year marks the first time it will be celebrated with special events by the Philippine Culinary Heritage Movement (PCHM), National Commission of the Culture and the Arts (NCCA), and the Department of Agriculture.

With the theme “Ang Sarap! Piyesta ng Pagkaing Pilipino,” the National Filipino Food Month was recently launched at Manila Hotel with performances from the Philippine Madrigal Singers, Halili Cruz Dance Company, and "Star in A Million" Season 2 champion Frenchie Dy.

“The food we eat makes us who we are. The food we eat makes us Filipino,” noted Rico S. Pableo, Jr., executive director of the NCCA, which hopes to highlight how food and culture are integral towards one another.
