The Mediterranean diet has long been prescribed to help prevent cardiovascular diseases. This diet consists of plant-based food like fruits and vegetables, whole grain, legumes and nuts; herbs and spices; pasta, olive oil and a higher proportion of seafood and poultry than red meat.

In 2013, UNESCO included it on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. A recently published research on the International Journal of Cancer also discovered that Mediterranean diet reduces the risk of receptor negative breast cancer.

To make this diet available to more Filipinos, Doña Elena is offering different products that will help you create your own Mediterranean Diet regimen, such as olives, capers, Italian canned tomatoes, Spanish sardines, flat fillet anchovies, pasta, tuna and olive oil.

7. 5 celebrity-approved ways to enjoy whiskey

Scotch whiskey has a reputation for being a "serious" drink. Most of the time, it is reserved for special celebrations and gatherings. But celebrities Nico Bolzico, Freida Pinto, Mond Gutierrez, Martine Cajucom and Jess Connelly think otherwise.

Here are some of their suggestions on how to enjoy Johnnie Walker Black Label:

Nico Bolzico: "I like to have a glass of Scotch by myself on the balcony, looking into the horizon, pretending I am super smart. Drinking Scotch calms me down at the end of a long day and makes me very relaxed."

Freida Pinto: "I love my Scotch in different ways – I love an Old Fashioned. And absolutely, Scotch can be mixed – there are so many ways to drink Scotch."

Mond Gutierrez: "I used to think Scotch was too strong for me – I didn’t like the taste. But then last year, Coco Rocha told me her secret when it comes to drinking Scotch – it’s that she mixes it with Ginger Ale. So I tried it, and fell in love with it."

Martine Cajucom: "I usually like my drinks stiff – I don’t want any of the extra calories. But on those nights when I feel like having a cheeky drink, I’ll have a Scotch-based cocktail – it’s a great way to unwind and catch up with friends."

Jess Connelly: "I grew up watching my dad, who is also a performer, have a drink before every performance – so now, I have a drink before every performance. Scotch is my go-to drink because even when I doubt myself, Scotch reminds me that deep down, I am the rock star I know I am."
