Filipino-Chinese Teresita Lim or Bee Hua has lived most of her life in the colorful world of kao ka, a Hokkien-style traditional opera.

A second-generation kao ka performer, Bee Hua learned how to sing and dance in her youth.

As the years went by, however, attendance to kao ka performances declined and even fewer Fil-Chi are interested in learning this art.

The present generation of kao ka performers, trained by Bee Hua herself, is not from Chinese lineage. She says most, if not all of them, see kao ka only as an income-generating venture.

Discover the colorful story of Bee Hua and her life dedicated to kao ka, on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 6:30 p.m., only on ANC’s Mukha.
