MANILA -- Toyo Eatery remains the lone Philippine entry in the Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list, as revealed in a "virtual announcement" on Tuesday.

The restaurant helmed by chef Jordy Navarra ranked 44th in the 2020 edition -- one spot lower that last year's 43rd -- in the list that many consider as an alternative to other rating systems like Michelin stars.

A total of 300 experts across the region cast their votes to come up with the list of Asia's 50 Best Restaurants for 2020.

The announcement was originally set to be held in Japan's Saga prefecture, but organizers ended up mounting an online event due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
