MANILA -- Almost every fan dreams of having their celebrity crush take them on a date.

A student from Antipolo City somehow turned that dream into a reality when she took a standee of her favorite K-pop singer as her "prom date" last March 16.

Beatriz Pineda caught the attention of netizens after photos of her and her "prom date," D.O. of the boy group EXO, made the rounds on social media.

Pineda, a 17-year-old student at PAREF Rosehill, said she came up with the idea so she would not have to worry about entertaining an actual date for the event.

"My friends and I decided to bring our brothers as our dates, but I didn't have a brother. I didn't want to invite someone because that would mean I would have to keep him entertained the whole night," she told ABS-CBN News.

"So I came up with this crazy idea of bringing a Kyungsoo standee as my date because I wouldn't have to worry about keeping him entertained and I felt that I would be comfortable with him and I would be really be able to enjoy the night," she said, mentioning D.O.'s real name, Do Kyungsoo.

The night turned even more memorable for Pineda when she and her D.O. standee were named prom king and queen, which was determined by the votes of the other students at the event.

Pineda's sister posted about the "prom date" on Twitter. As of writing, it has garnered 1,332 retweets and 2,452 likes on the platform.

On Facebook, Pineda's post of her prom photos has garnered nearly a thousand reactions, and hundreds of shares and comments.

"I felt a little overwhelmed knowing that so many people saw my pictures," said Pineda.

"I saw other fan accounts on Twitter and Facebook tweeting and sharing so I was really surprised," she added.

Pineda noted that being a fan has not distracted her from her studies.

"EXO is what actually motivates me to really work harder and be a well-rounded student," she said.

"I'm able to practice better time management because of them, since I get plan on the time I allot for them and for my studies," she said.

EXO debuted in 2012 as a 12-member group under SM Entertainment. Three members have since departed.

The group is known for its songs "Ko Ko Bop" and "Love Shot."

Last year, EXO visited Manila twice. First in April as part of their "Elyxion" tour and then in October for "Show Champion."
