MANILA – Many know Deo Endrinal as the head of ABS-CBN’s Dreamscape Entertainment, the producer of top-rating Kapamilya shows such as “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” and “The General’s Daughter.”

But not a lot of people get to see Endrinal’s other side, particularly his fine taste in food and design.

That is until the opening of Trellis Manila, which serves as an extension of Endrinal’s stylish home. He and his business partners soft-opened the restaurant, which is tucked in a building just across ABS-CBN’s ELJ building in Quezon City, last January.

At the center of Trellis Manila is a giant indoor tree that almost looks real, with the two-floor restaurant bathed in bold colors and tasteful prints. Endrinal’s vision was executed in every inch of the quiet space, which is a welcome respite from the city noise.

And when we say every inch, we mean it. Every single item in the establishment was hand-picked by Endrinal, down to the beautiful animal dining plates that look like they cost a small fortune.

A curated selection of hard-to-find blooms, scents, and home items – most of them imported from Europe – are available for sale at Trellis Manila. The media executive has a fascination with London, visiting the city two to three times a year.

While the interiors exude an air of sophistication, the food at Trellis Manila is all about simple elegance, focusing on clean flavors and fresh ingredients. The compact menu takes a cue from Endrinal’s food experiences, featuring mostly European comfort dishes.

There are plans to change food offerings every three to four months through collaborations with different chefs. For now, Trellis Manila’s lineup features dishes that are sure to please, such as the Citrus Brined Butterflied Pork Steak, which is served with a side salad, chimichurri rice, and butter sauce.

The restaurant also offers lovely cheese and charcuterie boards which are ideal for small groups. Every spot here is Instagrammable, but those who want an enclosed space can book the equally chic meeting room at the second floor. Coffee, meanwhile, is provided by the Taguig-based specialty coffee shop Luna.

Entering Trellis Manila feels like like stepping into a different world, away from deadlines and the city traffic. It’s the kind of place that you want to keep for yourself, but it’s only a matter of time before it becomes a favorite hangout among ABS-CBN celebrities and people who live and work in the area.

Trellis Manila is located at 2/F Grandia Place, Mother Ignacia Ave., Quezon City. The restaurant is open from Monday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 12 midnight.
