MANILA – Ballet Philippines is presenting “Rama, Hari,” a 40th anniversary revival of the dance-musical extravaganza, this March.
“Rama, Hari” is a collaborative work of five National Artists – Alice Reyes (Dance), Ryan Cayabyab (Music), Bienvenido Lumbera (Literature), the late Salvador Bernal (Theater Design), and the late Rolando Tinio (Theater and Literature).
It will run from March 20 to 29 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (Main Theater), but those who will watch during the ABS-CBN Night will get a treat after the show.
Set at 8 p.m. on March 27, the ABS-CBN Night will have Gian Magdangal as Rama, Shiela Valderrama-Martinez as Sita, Nar Cabico as Ravana, Kakki Teodoro as Soorpanakha/Kooni, Celine Fabie as Kaikeyi, Audie Gemora as King Dasaratha/Lakshmana, and Brezhnev Larlar as Hanuman.
Joining them are the Ryan Cayabyab Singers, the PWU Indayog Gong Ensemble, and the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Toma Cayabyab.
After the show, there will be a special performance from the leads of the original 1980 cast of “Rama, Hari.”
