MANILA – A total of 40 women will compete for five crowns in this year’s Binibining Pilipinas pageant.
The official candidates were revealed by Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI), led by founder and chairperson Stella Araneta, to members of the media at New Frontier Theater on Thursday.
They were chosen after a final screening of 56 applicants.
Some of the familiar names in Bb. Pilipinas 2020 include former “Pinoy Big Brother” housemate Vickie Rushton, who competed in the last two editions of the pageant; Samantha Bernardo, who finished second runner-up for two consecutive years; and Hannah Arnold, a 2019 candidate who has been dubbed a look-alike of Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.

The Bb. Pilipinas 2020 pageant will mark a new era as it will no longer give out the Miss Universe Philippines crown – a first in over 50 years.
This as the Miss Universe franchise in the Philippines now belongs to a different group headed by former beauty queen Shamcey Supsup, which has similarly started its search for 2020 hopefuls.
The five remaining crowns up for grabs in the BPCI-organized pageant include Bb. Pilipinas International, Bb. Pilipinas Supranational, Bb. Pilipinas Grand International, Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental, and Bb. Pilipinas Globe.
Two runner-up positions will also be given, as in previous years.
