Originating from Brazil, churrasco is barbecue in the style of the Latin Americas. Meats ranging from beef to pork, as well as fruits and vegetables, are grilled and served to diners tableside. Simply flip the personal dining card found on the table to green and diners can enjoy as much churrasco as they want.

One would be hard-pressed to say no to straightforward grilled options like beef sirloin, lamb leg, pork loin, or chicken thigh. Besides these, I found myself going back for seconds (and thirds) for the Brazilian pork sausage that was tasty and lean, the chicken breast wrapped in bacon that was very easy to eat, and the pork liver that should be a must-try for offal lovers, of which I count myself as.

Also kissed by the grill were peppers, corn, and tangy pineapple, all of which provided respite in between meaty bites. Sauces available tableside to liven up the churrasco experience included tangy and rich cilantro lemon butter sauce, a tomato salsa, and my preferred concoction (especially with the grilled beef sirloin), the fresh-tasting chimichurri sauce.

While the churrasco by itself is enough of a draw, the buffet’s main options are nothing to scoff at.

Start your foraging with a cheese plate piled high with cold cuts, breads, cheeses, or salad (there’s a make your own salad selection, as well), or dive straight to enjoying some fresh seafood (oysters, crabs, tuna, shrimp, mussels) grilled with garlic and butter, or enjoyed fraw with just a dash of vinegar.

Cuisines represented in the buffet also include Japanese (tempura, sashimi, sushi, okonomiyaki), Indian (butter chicken, curry, roti), or Filipino (bulalo, kalderetang kambing, fried frog), among others.

Save room for dessert though, as Café Eight had quite a spread -- from house-made ice cream with toppings, cakes aplenty from chocolate mousse to cheesecakes, a chocolate fountain with fruits and cookies, and even some Filipino goodies like puto bumbong and champorado.
