SINGAPORE -- Filipino favorite La Lola Churreria is becoming one of Singapore’s go-to favorites for churros.

The people behind La Lola in partnership with the MFT Group brought the churreria to Singapore. The first branch, which celebrated its first anniversary last November, is at a high-traffic, high-visibility location right outside Clarke Quay center.

Positioned right outside and MRT station exit and a bus stop, Singaporean commuters couldn’t help but be drawn in by La Lola’s vibrant red and green visuals.

It was this attactive branding that gave La Lola its second branch at Singapore’s Changi Airport. A key member of the Jewel team was on a bus that happened to pass by Clarke Quay Center and saw the bright green, red, and white signage. La Lola now occupies a much-coveted spot at the Jewel food court.

“We were invited by Jewel Changi Airport to join lots of loved brands in Jewel. We took the opportunity because we know the Jewel group is very selective in terms of the brands,” proudly explained Joanne Cabaera, business unit head of MFT Ventures SG Private Ltd which set up and manages La Lola in Singapore.

While La Lola has its trademark churros and xuxos (cream-filled churros), the Singapore stores have exclusive items only available in the Lion City. For example, in addition to the chocolate dip, the Singapore selection has a cream cheese dip.

La Lola also has savory items that are ideal for a grab-and-go breakfast, like sandwiches made by creating churro discs that make a nice crunchy replacement for bread.

The Chori Churro Burger is an upscaled version of Boracay favorite, the choriburger. These are served as a pair of chorizo sliders. The spicy chorizo and arugula complementing the sweetness of the churro.

The Burrata Churro Sandwich is a mess to eat, but is healthy and really tasty. This is a vegetarian sandwich of a big glob of burrata with sundried tomatoes and arugula.

La Lola Churreria is in expansion mode in Singapore and is currently scouting locations for more branches to open in 2020.
