MANILA - Filipinos made a beeline to the grand opening day of the popular fast food chain Jollibee in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Jollibee's newest branch opened on May 4 at the 2nd level of The Dubai Mall.

A video taken by Ayie Delloza, a music director working in Dubai, showed around 500 Filipinos were queuing for Jollibee.

Delloza said Filipinos were lining up at the Dubai Mall, even before it opened. He lined up at 10:30 a.m., and as of 12 noon he was still in line.

"It's biggest mall in Dubai. It opens 10:30 in the morning. But people were here as early as 9 am according to the mall guards," he said.

Pictures of the grand opening resembled that of a blockbuster movie premiere as rope stanchions were set up to maintain order as the crowd patiently waited in line for the store to open.

Netizens also posted on Twitter their Jollibee meal orders.

Jollibee Foods Corp.'s subsidiary Golden Plate Pte Ltd. signed a joint venture with Golden Crown Foods for the operations of Jollibee stores in UAE.

Last month, Jollibee announced its plan to open 330 new stores worldwide, 220 of which are in the Philippines and the remaining 110 overseas.
