MANILA - The Facebook page of ABS-CBN News was among the world's top publishers on the web in December 2018, according to social media analytics platform NewsWhip.

ABS-CBN News joined the ranks of Fox News (no. 1), Daily Mail (no. 2), BBC (no. 3), New York Times (no. 5), placing 22nd on the list of top 25 web publishers on Facebook for the last month of 2018.

It was the only Philippine website on the top 25 Web Publishers on Facebook in December 2018.

The ranking is based on Facebook likes, shares and comments on web publishers' articles.

news.abs-cbn.com had 3,206 articles with 10.5 million engagements last December.

Newswhip said that except for 24/7 Sports, "The vast majority of publishers in the list were news publishers, and more traditional ones at that..."

news.abs-cbn.com's articles about the Miss Universe 2018 pageant, which was won by Miss Philippines' Catriona Gray, drove significant engagements on ABS-CBN News' Facebook page.

Stories related to the Ateneo de Manila University bullying incident were also among the top stories on ABS-CBN News' Facebook page.

The strong performance of the Facebook account of ABS-CBN News comes on the heels of the news organization's preparations for 2019 midterm elections, where it will partner with some of the world's biggest social media organizations.

These partnerships are expected to bolster ABS-CBN News' coverage of the 2019 polls.
