    • ABS-CBN Fact Check is the fact-checking arm of ABS-CBN News. ABS-CBN is one of the country’s leading media and entertainment companies. It affirms its mission of being in the service of the Filipino and all its stakeholders worldwide.
    • The company is driven to pioneer, innovate and adapt as it continues to provide information, news and entertainment that connects Filipinos with one another and with their community — wherever they may be.
    • The Fact Checking project of ABS-CBN started in December 2021. It aims to help the Filipino people fight misinformation and disinformation. The team is also a member of Tsek.ph, a collaborative fact checking project for the 2022 election. ABS-CBN also participated in their pioneering collaborative project during the 2019 elections even before our fact checking initiative started.

    • To counter misinformation and disinformation
      • Misinformation and disinformation, especially in social media is very dangerous. It can cause harm to people and the society. It can be used to confuse and disrupt understanding of important issues. Fact-checking aims to correct false information and people’s false perception of crucial social and political issues such as the pandemic and health concerns, calamities, governance, and the elections.

      • Spreading false information is more rampant during the election season. Fact-checking can help to reduce the level of deception especially in social media.
