MANILA — Coritha, a revered figure in the Philippine music scene, passed away on Friday, September 27, at 7:50 in the evening.

Her death was confirmed by Dr. Digna Santos, the youngest sister of Coritha’s partner, Luisito Santos.

“She died Friday at 7:50 p.m. tapos ano na ‘yun after that we contacted the barangay officials in Tagaytay of Maharlika East,” Dr. Santos shared, adding her brother wanted Coritha's remains cremated as soon as possible.

Citing information from Coritha's caregivers, Dr. Santos said the singer had been struggling to breathe and had been exhibiting a weak pulse.

So, we’re thinking na that's one of the reasons na nag set-in na yung pneumonia. So sa condition niya, hindi na niya kakayanin ang pneumonia,” she added.
