MANILA — Kapamilya actress Shanaia Gomez is the lead star of the horror film "The Gatekeeper," which is set to be released on iWantTFC next month.

In the trailer released during the film's press conference, it shows that "The Gatekeeper" delves deep into the demonic mysteries lurking in the real world while blending biblical elements into Filipino folklore as presented through Cita's (Gomez) lens.

She comes across a strange cabinet that also serves as a portal to the horrific pits of the underworld—suddenly becoming the gatekeeper between two drastic worlds.

Gomez said that with the research by director Matthew Rosen shows how "The Gatekeeper" may be related to things that happened in the past.

"A lot of the facts in the movie are real, 'yung research na ginawa ni Direk is like real stuff, if you were to search the stuff that I'm saying in the movie, talagang real results will pop up," Gomez said.

"In a way, parang you're playing with fire, you're playing with something na medyo totoo kaya feeling ko na parang ... what makes this so scary, we're not making up these facts about the cabinet," she added.

Rosen is looking forward for people to see the work, as he's been trying to see the whole picture since 1984.

"I've been preparing for this since 1984. It is a great weight off my shoulders and we have finally made it and I am so excited to get this out on air for people," he said.

"The Gatekeeper" will be available to stream via iWantTFC starting October 19.
