MANILA -- Singer-actor Inigo Pascual on Wednesday expressed his sympathies for his ex-girlfriend, Maris Racal, after she confirmed her breakup with singer Rico Blanco.

"I saw it, actually watched it. I feel for her. I know it's tough," Pascual said during the launch of his trilogy songs in Quezon City. "But I see it in a good light."

"She's getting to know herself. She's choosing herself. That's something I'm very proud of her," he added.

Racal had announced last Friday the end of her relationship with Blanco, revealing that it has been "a few weeks" since their split.

Pascual admitted that he has not been in contact with Racal for some time but remains updated on her career and achievements. He expressed his happiness at her decision to prioritize self-love and self-improvement.

"I'm happy for her for choosing herself, to be strong for herself," he said. "Hindi madali 'yun."

"Minsan, you get blinded by the things you want, the things you're comfortable with. Like me, going to the States, I feel like it's a parallel situation," he added. "It's not the ideal move for me, but when you learn about yourself, it's a big step."

In a candid moment, Pascual revealed that he had written a song for Racal in the past, titled "Balang Araw."

Pascual and Racal ended their relationship in December 2018.
