MANILA --  Filipino rock band Nobita dedicated a song titled “Gitna” to online personalities Cong TV and Viy Cortez, which they performed for the newlyweds.

After Cong and Viy tied the knot, Nobita revealed their wedding gift in two ways — handing the couple with framed lyrics of the song and performing it live. 

“I think the universe allows it to play the song in front of — sa harapan nila mismo. Sa harapan mismo ng inspirasyon ng kanta,” a member of the band said.

Nobita took the opportunity to surprise the couple with “Gitna,” which was composed for the couple as the title also refers to the aisle.

“I think the song perfectly embodies kung anong klaseng relasyon ang mayroon si Cong at saka si Viy. Which is, hindi siya perfect. Which I think dapat naman na sa isang relasyon. Kasi kung perfect na isang relasyon, walang texture. Kung walang texture, boring, at the same time you don’t have problems to parang overcome. Hindi magiging mas resilient 'yung relationship. Which I think 'yun ang important, hindi dapat perfect relationship. Dapat, relationship full of resilience,” member of the band said.

“Naalala ko noon noong sinusulat ‘yung kanta, ang iniisip ko talaga, ang iniisip ko noon is ano ‘yung feeling ni Cong ‘pag nakita niyang dumarating si Ate Viy, papalapit sa harapan niya,” member of the band said. “It’s beyond words para i-describe ‘yung feeling na ‘yun. At nakita rin naman namin ‘yun, sakto”.

Nobita said the song was written years ago when the idea behind was brought up in a jamming session and they realized that other Team Payaman members like Kevin, Junie Boy, and Keng, have used their songs for their wedding.

The band said that while writing the song, they tried to imagine how Cong will be like during his wedding day.

“Yung song, I think 2021 lang siya nagawa. Naalala ko noon, nagja-jamming kami ni Mark and ni Richmond,” a member of the band said. “Sabi nga namin na hindi pa sila kinakasal pero alam namin na doon din sila pupunta, so may sinulat na kaming song, which is ‘yung ‘Gitna’, at ilang year din ang inabot bago lumabas kasi nga inaantay namin ‘yung perfect timing para iparinig sa kanila.”

“Gitna” is planned to be released to the public but there is no specific date yet. Despite this, Nobita is happy to have fulfilled their purpose of writing the song and giving it to the couple.
