MANILA — Filipino boy group BGYO on Wednesday filed cyberlibel and unjust vexation complaints against individuals who have allegedly been spreading false information against its members.

Gelo, Akira, JL, Mikki and Nate went to the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office to stand up against cyberbullying and hopefully stop the spread of lies and disinformation.

Since they made their debut in 2021, the members of BGYO have faced accusations of cheating, bullying and drug use, with the allegations mostly spreading on social media.

In April, Star Magic said they will take "legal action against ... emboldened bashers who circulate unfounded rumors" after a spate of cyberbullying against BGYO.

At the time, Star Magic legal counsel Atty. Joji Alonso said they are cooperating with government agencies and private service providers "to gather evidence and hold these perpetrators accountable for their unlawful behavior."

"Filing of criminal cases will be set in motion. Again, we remind the public that it is not only crucial to call out acts of bashing and cyberbullying, but to show kindness and accord everyone due respect, both online and in real life," Alonso said in a statement.

Formed through ABS-CBN's Star Hunt Academy program, BGYO -- composed of Mikki, Gelo, Nate, Akira, and JL -- debuted with their song "The Light." They have since released other songs including "Tumitigil Ang Mundo" and "He's Into Her."
