MANILA — P-pop boy group ALAMAT and OPM band The Juans unite to narrate the haircut after breakup culture in the Philippines with their new single "Gupit."

Speaking to reporters, The Juans frontman Carl Guevarra said that ALAMAT was the perfect choice as they always incorporate Filipino culture with their music.

"It's a testament of moving on and of bagong tao na ako. Sinimulan naming i-develop namin itong kanta and naisip namin na ALAMAT is the perfect group to collaborate with kasi alam naman natin na 'yung ALAMAT ingrained sa culture ng mga Pilipino," Guevarra said.

"Talagang nagbigyan din ng kanilang unique blend itong awiting ito, unique flavor, hope namin sa lahat ng gustong maka-move on o gusto ng good vibes 'Gupit' is the perfect song na pwede niyo nang mapakinggan," he added.

ALAMAT member Jao Canlas expressed their gratitude to The Juans, noting how the band is their "kuyas" in the industry. 

"It super give and take po talaga in the process of making the song 'Gupit' and collaborating with the kuyas na The Juans, na-feel namin siya na may mga kuya talaga kami sa industriyang ito. They guided out throughout the recording, it was a fun process," he said.

For Canlas, "Gupit" teaches listeners how a haircut can give people a feeling of relief and jumpstart to move forward after a heartbreak.

"It's a process and we have ways on coping ... here in 'Gupit' na-realize ko na parang na you have to dwell, it's not an instant thing na 'pag na-break 'yung heart mo, you will do something, mawawala na agad," the ALAMAT member said.  

"Ayun, 'yung 'Gupit' kahit papaano nababawasan 'yung pain or you'll be able to dwell on it and realize some things, you'll be able to process it," he added.  

The Juans' RJ Cruz added how the song also stresses that healing should start in yourself.

"If you listen to the song, you're gonna seek questions na 'para ba 'to sa sarili ko, kaya ba ako magpapagupit kasi kailangan kong magbago' so 'Gupit' talks about inside and out transformation," he said.

ALAMAT and The Juans' "Gupit" is now available on various online streaming platforms.
