Veteran actress Eva Darren recently made headlines after the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) allegedly snubbed her after inviting her to present an award. 

The incident came to light after her son, Fernando dela Pena, took to Facebook to share that Darren's efforts to prepare for the occasion were in vain as she was unable to grace the stage. 

She was replaced by young singer Sheena Palad, who joined screen veteran Tirso Cruz III as an award presenter. 

FAMAS has since issued a public apology, saying the live broadcast challenges and the bustling atmosphere of the event hindered the production team from locating Darren for the scheduled presentation. 

This was accepted by the actress' family, with her son hoping that such an incident will not happen again.

A revered icon in the Philippine movie industry, Darren has received multiple nominations and awards in her career as an actress, which started in the 1960s.

She won two Best Supporting Actress awards, one in the 1970 FAMAS and another in the 1969 Manila Film Festival, for her performance in "Ang Pulubi." 

Darren was also nominated as Best Supporting Actress in the FAMAS in 1968 and 1969 for "Ang Langit sa Lupa" and "Igorota," respectively, and in the 1998 Gawad Urian for "Ligaya ang Itawag mo sa Akin."

She has appeared in a number of ABS-CBN shows such as "Pangako Sa 'Yo," where she played the role of Belen Macaspac, the adoptive mother of Yna (Kristine Hermosa).

Darren was also a regular in the now-defunct ABS-CBN drama anthology "Maalaala Mo Kaya," which was hosted by Charo Santos. 

During the recent FAMAS awards night, Santos shared a photo of her with Darren along with other screen icons.
