"I thought a lot about which songs to put in the album," Chen said Tuesday in a YouTube livestream held an hour before the EP's release.

"Door" consists of six tracks, with Chen contributing lyrics to five of them. The EP is led by the ballad single "Empty."

"As I heard this song, I knew this was the one," Chen said of "Empty."

"Singing this lonely song, I want to give you hope," he told fans.

Notably, "Door" also marks Chen's first album since departing from SM Entertainment and moving to a new agency, INB100, with his bandmates Baekhyun and Xiumin. It also follows his third EP "Last Scene," released in November 2022.

Born Kim Jong-dae, Chen debuted in 2012 as a member of boy band EXO. He is also a part of the sub-unit EXO-CBX with Baekhyun and Xiumin.

Outside of his activities with EXO, Chen is known for recording a number of songs for television dramas, including "Everytime" from "Descendants of the Sun" and "The Way to Love Myself" from "Doctor Slump."
