Humans become embroiled in a battle against parasitic creatures in the teaser for the upcoming South Korean series "Parasyte: The Grey."

The show, set to premiere on Netflix on April 5, is based on the popular Japanese sci-fi horror manga "Parasyte," about aliens who come to Earth to take over human bodies.

Netflix released Thursday the official teaser for "Parasyte: The Grey," which begins with a parasite-infected human saying, "A short while ago, we came to Earth with one goal in mind. We have no choice but to parasitize human bodies to live."

The teaser continues to show more parasite-controlled beings, who terrorize humans with their ability to distort the shape of their host bodies.

Protagonist Su-in, played by Jeon So-nee, appears near the end of the clip, confronted by two infected humans for being "good at pretending to be human," only for her to retaliate with the same ability as them.

In truth, Su-in has managed to retain her human consciousness while living with the parasite that attempted to take control of the body.

Apart from Su-in, the series will also follow Team Grey, a group committed to fighting against the parasitic entities.

"Parasyte: The Grey" is directed and co-written by Yeon Sang-ho, who also directed the zombie horror film "Train to Busan" and the dark fantasy series "Hellbound."
