Kapamilya acts win big in 'Billboard PH Women in Music'

MANILA — Kapamilya stars dominated the very first Billboard Philippines Women in Music awards night. 

Asia's songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid was given the ‘Powerhouse’ award for her exceptional legacy in the industry.

Regine graced the blue carpet together with husband Ogie Alcasid and her son Nate.

Regine said that she feels honored and humbled to accept the Powerhouse recognition from Billboard PH, at this stage of her career.

Aside from Regine and Ogie, another power couple graced the event  — Matteo and Sarah Geronimo-Guidicelli.



The popstar royalty was honored with the 'Woman of the Year’ award, following her most recent recognition from Billboard US as the ‘Global Force’ awardee. With this honor, Sarah said that she is fired up to produce more music soon.

With the string of mega hits on her cap, Moira Dela Torre was given the ‘Hitmaker’ award. She said, “I feel very honored. The term hitmaker, is not something, I don’t anyone can take it lightly. I definitely share this award with a lot of people. I just feel very blessed.”

P-Pop girl group BINI sparkled onstage with their performance of their viral hit ‘Salamin Salamin’ before receiving the ‘Rising Star’ award from Stell of SB-19.

Fans gushed over Stell’s speech during the award presentation, where he said: “Mula sa aming lima, para sa kanilang walo, congratulations sa inyo. Lagi naming sinasabi na masaya kami kasi dumating kayo sa P-Pop industry, sama-sama nating itaguyod ang Filipino music sa global stage.”

“It’s truly a big honor po especially for us who are still starting. And Billboard Philippines is a big name, a big award, we accept it with full honor and pride. Hindi lang ito for us, but also for the people who believed in us,” said Aiah.

Meanwhile, Jackie Lou Blanco accepted the ICON award in behalf of her mom —Asia’s Queen of Songs, Pilita Corales.

Jackie Lou was touched by the tribute video presented onstage capturing the colorful and unparalleled six-decade career of her mother. 

Belle Mariano won the Listener’s Choice Award for her song ‘Bagumbilya’. Speaking to ABS-CBN News after the event, Belle said she is definitely inspired to create more music.

Growing up, Belle had always been into music, singing karaoke with her grandfather.

The Kapamilya primetime actress and singer said music has always been her emotional and creative outlet, and she wants to inspire little girls like to never stop pursuing their dreams.

Morissette won the People’s Choice Award. During her speech, she highlighted the importance of not giving up on your dreams, paying homage to her Visayan roots and drawing inspiration from her fellow female artists.
