The hit primetime drama series “The Cleaning Lady” returns to Fox this March, bringing back many of its cast members including Sean Lew.

The Japanese Chinese-American dancer plays Chris, the undocumented Filipino son of Martha Milan’s character, Fiona.

“It’s surreal,” said Lew of his character. “I would’ve never expected to be on a show let alone having a third season and the story that it tells. Being a part of it, it’s honestly the biggest honor.”

The 22-year-old managed to take a quick break from his busy filming schedule to attend the inaugural Moonrise Gala awards of Asian-American music label 88Rising in Hollywood.

The event honored Asian musicians, something close to Lew’s heart, who first made his mark in entertainment as a dancer.

For him, “The Cleaning Lady” represents his breakthrough as an actor.

“There’s no better story or show,” Lew added. “I would rather have my breakout in and start off in that way. It's cool.”

As Lew plays the role of an undocumented Filipino teenager, he believes the story can touch not just Asian-Americans but also all people, even those who may not be familiar with issues of migrant families.

“I think it’s crazy because it’s not only catering towards our community and the Asian culture in the background,” the actor said, “but also, it’s a story that anyone in the entire world can watch and actually learn from.”

After filming was delayed due to the Hollywood writers and actors’ strike, season three of “The Cleaning Lady” will finally premiere on March 5.
