MANILA -- Over three decades, ABS-CBN's iconic drama anthology "Maalaala Mo Kaya" has made a difference in the lives of many Filipinos -- including its host Charo Santos-Concio.

"People often thank me for making in difference in their lives through 'MMK.' But it is I who should be grateful to them. Their stories of prevailing over the toughest of odds ground me and lift me up during my times of self-doubt and despair," the former ABS-CBN president in a speech at the Women Lead Conference 2024 of the Italian Chamber of Commerce.

Santos-Concio also acknowledged some of defining moments in her career and life as a woman and how the heartfelt stories of Filipinos touched her deeply and served as a source of inspiration.

"Through 'MMK,' I experienced God's grand handwork first-hand and gained a deeper appreciation of what it is and how it is to be human, I have become a better person because of 'MMK,'" she said.

“Maalaala Mo Kaya” premiered in May 1991. Its success saw the title expand as a radio drama, a 1994 movie, and a comic book adaptation, among others, with its regular weekend run.

Asia’s longest-running drama anthology concluded in December 2022, marking the end of an era on Philippine television.
