MANILA -- The milestones keep coming for the Nation's Girl Group.

BINI on Sunday won the "Best Asia Act" award in the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA).

The latest recognition comes just days before BINI holds their three-day Grand BINIverse concert at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

"We're so thankful for winning the Best Asia Act in this year's MTV Europe Music Awards," BINI Jhoanna said in a video posted on MTV Asia's X [formerly Twitter] account.

"We hope we can keep sharing our music with you and that the world can discover more of Filipino music," BINI Mikha added.

BINI won the award over South Korea's ILLIT, Indonesia's Mahalini, Malaysia's MASDO, and Japan's Sakurazaka46.

In a post on their X account, BINI said the award "means the world to us, seeing Filipino music shine on the global stage."

The Nation's Girl Group has had a monumental 2024, with their fame rising exponentially thanks to their mega-hit "Pantropiko." In June, they held their first solo concert, a three-night affair at the New Frontier Theater dubbed "BINIverse."

In July, they became the first Filipino act to perform at the KCON LA music festival, where they sang their single "Cherry on Top."

The 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards is being held in Manchester on Sunday [early Monday, Manila time].

Among the nominees are Taylor Swift, Charli XCX and Billie Eilish, with British singer Rita Ora set to host.

Swift is nominated in seven categories following the release this year of her 11th album "The Tortured Poets Department".

In the Best Artist category she will go up against compatriots Beyonce, Eilish, male rapper Post Malone and British star Raye, who won a record six gongs at this year's Brit Awards

Sabrina Carpenter, one of the stars of the summer with her hit "Please Please Please", completes the nominees.

This is the first MTV Europe Music Awards since 2022 after last year's edition, to be held near Paris, was canceled because of the war between Israel and Hamas. -- with Agence France-Presse
