MANILA -- Actress and vlogger Alex Gonzaga said her body is currently in good shape, allowing her to conceive a baby with God's grace.

“My last test, positive na po ‘yung katawan ko so any time puwede na po tayong mabuntis. Kasi tiningnan ‘yung blood. Ganun pala ‘yun. Right now, it’s positive, it’s 60 percent okay so any time na po,” Gonzaga announced during the press conference for Chef Aybs' Paragis Tea. 

Was trying to have a baby a difficult experience for her? “One of the reasons kaya hirap akong mabuntis is masyadong mataas ang immune system ko na hindi ko po alam kung bakit. There’s something wrong with my thyroglobulin na sinabi ng doctor ko,” Gonzaga said. 

“I’ve tried IVF. Before, I’m doing LIT kasi nga po nakita na masyadong mataas ang immune system. My body doesn’t recognize pregnancy. Nung nagtra-try po kami, hindi masyadong umaangat ‘yung blood levels ko,” she added.

LIT or lymphocyte immunization therapy is a fertility treatment whereby white blood cells from the father-to-be are isolated from the father's blood and injected into the skin of the prospective mother.

Gonzaga also mentioned at the launch that she is an advocate for women's protection and their bodies. She emphasized that people should exercise extreme caution while commenting on women's bodies, particularly when using the term "baog."

In this revelation, she shared, “Hindi ako nasaktan personally. Pero tingin ko kailangang mag-stop ‘yung kapag sinasabihan kang baog.”

“Sa gender, very sensitive na po tayo ngayon. Even sa body shaming. Pero bakit sa babae, kapag walang anak, bakit parang very loosely ginagamit ‘yung baog? We really have to be sensitive about it. Sa akin, kaya ko, puwede naman. What if may mga taong very sensitive talaga sa kanila ‘yung ganung issue? May mga ganun talaga akong kilala na they can’t even talk about it. Naisip ko, we have to be careful na gamitin ‘yung words na ‘yun sa mga kababaihan kasi maraming inner struggles ang mga babae na hindi natin alam,” she continued. 

To make sure people will stop using the term “baog,” she confessed: “Mayroon akong nademanda riyan. Ngayon, maglalabas na siya ng statement niya. Hindi ito para sa akin na nasaktan ako but because gusto kong maging conscious na tayo para lang hindi na dapat ginagamit ‘yung salitang baog, nalaglag.”

Gonzaga also took the chance to share her thoughts on bullying, adding, “Sa digital world, sensitive na ang mga tao. Ayaw na natin ‘yung bullying. Itong parte na ito sa kababaihan, hindi pa masyadong nabibigyan ng pansin. Nung may nakita akong nagkomento na ganun, pinakausap ko sa lawyer.”

Giving an update on the case, she shared, “Pinatawad po namin. Kailangan lang niyang maglabas ng apology. Pinapaayos namin ‘yung apology.”

While balancing everything, Gonzaga said that she gets inspiration and support from husband Mikee Morada, and parents Daddy Bonoy and Mommy Pinty.

Gonzaga acknowledged that her goal is spending quality time with her husband. Does this mean she'll have less showbiz projects?

“Depende. Usually, kapag ako ‘yung one of the producers or isa sa mga nagko-concept, tinatanggap ko. May mga na-pass na muna kami (projects). May mga nag-o-offer naman. Hindi lang namin tinatanggap pa muna,” she told ABS-CBN News.
