MANILA—The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has ordered GMA Network Inc. to pay P890,000 fine after the death of veteran actor Eddie Garcia during an accident on-set.

According to the National Capital Region (NCR) office of DOLE, the network violated three things which led to its decision.
First is not filing a work accident or illness report under 24 hours. Second, would be the lack of safety officer and lastly is the lack of first aid personnel in the location of the shooting.

According to DOLE-NCR Regional Director Sarah Mirasol, GMA has filed an appeal to the decision and will be raised to Labor Secretary Silverstre Bello.

“We are implementing or imposing is it’s a work site kasi, ‘yun ang aming contention. So there must be a compliance to the provisions of Occupational Safety and Health Standards, even in temporary work locations,” Mirasol said.
