MANILA - Tony Labrusca, one of only two finalists who failed to make the final cut of "Pinoy Boyband Superstar," said he remains grateful to the talent search despite not winning it, as it paved the way for him to finally meet his biological father, actor Boom Labrusca.
Recalling what happened during his audition, when his father made a surprise visit, Tony said: "It was so much pressure kasi I didn't expect it. Moving forward, I'm very happy that the show gave me that opportunity because if it wasn't for them, I wouldn't have gotten to know my biological dad. And even though, it was aired on television, it was a start, it was a blessing in disguise."

But at the same time, Tony, who grew up in Canada, admitted that he felt a little worried about how his Pinay mother would react. Boom has yet to reveal the reason why he and Tony's mother broke up, only hinting that his relationship back then just didn't happen at the right time.

"I was definitely worried for my mother because she's the one that raised me. At the end of the way, she's protected me all these years and all I want to do is protect her now," said Tony. "And I want everybody to know that I love my mother and she's incredibly important to my life."

Tony added that he and Boom have started to get to know each other more, but stressed that he remains especially grateful towards his stepfather in Canada as well. "I think the secret hero really is my stepfather because if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be the man that I am today," he explained.
