MANILA -- Charo Santos and Daniel Padilla are set to headline a new movie about the devastating aftermath of typhoon Yolanda, "Whether the Weather is Fine."
A behind-the-scenes look at the movie was released Thursday by Dreamscape, one of the producers of the movie alongside iWant, Quantum Films, Black Sheep, and Globe Studios.
Its international partners include studios from France, Singapore, Indonesia, and Germany.
"Whether the Weather is Fine" will be directed by Carlo Francisco Manatad, whose short film, "Jodilerks Dela Cruz, Employee of the Month," competed in the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in 2017.
Manatad was born in Tacloban, one of the hardest-hit areas by Yolanda back in 2013.
The film will also star newbie actress Francinne Rifol, also known as Rans from all-Pinay girl group MNL48.
The official synopsis for it reads: "Against the backdrop of the typhoon Yolanda, a mother (Santos) and her son (Padilla) struggle for survival and deal with absurdity of fate, sustained by the hope that they carry, and what is lost and gained."
A release date for the new movie was not announced.
