The Philippines' KC Concepcion on Wednesday joined former US president Bill Clinton onstage at the last day of plenary sessions of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) meeting in Hong Kong.
Concepcion along with officials of the United Nations’ (UN) World Food Programme (WFP) presented to the former US leader’s foundation its commitment to feed more people in seven impoverish countries to the tune of $15 million.
The actress, the WFP’s Philippine ambassador for a year now, was also joined by Korean actor Jang Dong Kung
The WFP partnered with five companies to expand their development work.
Aircraft maker Boeing, for one, contributed funds for nutrition programs for 6,000 new mothers in the Philippines & Indonesia, while Credit Suisse will help in a program that will create a healthy environment for 9,000 Indonesian children.
WFP said this is their concrete response to a challenge posted by Clinton to make an impact on the poor in the region, which comprises half of the world's population. Nadia Trinidad, ABS-CBN News, Hong Kong
