MANILA -- With a star-studded cast comprising some of the greatest actors from different generations, ABS-CBN's newest series "And I Love You So" promises to present touching drama to the Filipino audience.
The drama series revolves around the story of two school girls Trixie (Julia Barretto) and Joanna (Miles Ocampo), whose rivalry extends from their school activities to their personal relationships.
Their hatred for each other grows deeper when Trixie's father Alfonso (Tontom Gutierrez) and Joanna's mother Michelle (Dimples Romana), who happened to be former lovers, decided to get married.
But happiness does not last long. Sooner than expected, Trixie's mother and Alfonso's first wife Katrina (Angel Aquino) comes in the picture to win back everything from Michelle.
In a press launch on December 1, the stars, directors, and one of the writers of "And I Love You So" shared their unique experiences in making the drama series.
According to one of its directors Onat Diaz, "And I Love You So" shows how millennials deal with different life issues. But more that, it also tells a story about families.
"It tells a very nice story about families. And how these two set of people deal with life-- kung paano mag-react ang mga katulad nila Michelle at Joanna sa buhay at kung paano rin mag-react ang mga katulad nila Katrina and Trixie sa mga dagok ng buhay," he said.
Barretto said her role as Trixie is challenging because she had to learn how to become feisty by observing the performances of established antagonists in the industry. According to the 18-year-old actress, people can expect several fight scenes between her and Ocampo.
Ocampo, on the other hand, expressed her excitement in finally getting a big break in showbiz.
"Sobrang masya po ako kasi finally, siyempre, ang tagal ko rin naman po itong hinintay. Grabe po 'yong tiwala na binigay ng Dreamscape po sa akin," she said.
Meanwhile, Romana and Aquino revealed that their characters in the series are actually far from what they are in real life.
"Medyo mas may challenge kasi ang role ko dito single mother ako e, which is totally the opposite in real life. So I really had to talk to some of my single-parent friends," Romana said.
Aquino, who is a single parent in real life, said that she can better relate to Romana's character.
"Si Katrina bilang obsessed with a man, to get his love, and build her world around him is something so alien to me," she said. "Theoretically, if you wanna keep your man you have to both be individuals, strong as individuals so that you'll be able to love one another as different people and embrace your differences together."
Apart from Aquino, Barretto, Romana, Ocampo, and Gutierrez, the drama series also features actors Iñigo Pascual, Nikki Valdez, Jay Manalo, Dante Rivero, Kenzo Guttierrez, Benjie Paras, and Francis Magundayao.
