MANILA — “Let’s show them what we’re made of.”
These were the words of The Black Eyed Peas member apl.de.ap as he looked forward to the opening ceremony of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games), where he will participate.
The Philippines-born rapper shared early this week a photo of him holding up a torch at the recent SEA Games torch run in Pampanga, captioned: “Less than a week.”
He was referring to the sporting event’s November 30 opening ceremony to be held at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan, where he will perform alongside fellow Filipino artists who made a mark internationally.
The likes of Aicelle Santos, Anna Fegi, Christian Bautista, Elmo Magalona, Iñigo Pascual, Jed Madela, KZ Tandingan, Lani Misalucha, Robert Seña, and The TNT Boys are part of the lineup.
Apl.de.ap’s participation in the SEA Games was first announced in August.
Broadway star Lea Salonga, the voice behind the SEA Games official theme song “We Win As One,” announced as early as September that she will not be able to attend the opening ceremony due to a conflicting schedule.
