MANILA—He's known to be close with Cassy Legaspi, daughter of celebrity couple Zoren Legaspi and Carmina Villaroel. He has also acknowledged in the past that he finds her pretty.

So it should come as no surprise that there's some talk linking Darren Espanto to Cassy, a rumor the young singer tried to downplay this Friday on "Tonight With Boy Abunda."

According to the show, the assumptions began when his mom teased him in a past interview about a puppy love. But Espanto said it might have been because she would often find himself on the phone talking to his friends. He clarified that these were his male friends.
