MANILA — The first teaser of the Philippine remake of the South Korean drama film “Miracle in Cell No. 7” has been released.

Producer Viva Films shared the first look at the Metro Manila Film Festival entry on Tuesday, over a month before its Christmas Day premiere.

As in the 2013 original, the adaptation centers on a mentally challenged man who is wrongfully imprisoned for murder. He forms friendships with his fellow inmates, who then connive to have him reunite with his daughter.

In the Nuel Naval-helmed remake, Aga Muhlach plays Lito, the father, while Xia Vigor portrays his daughter, Yesha.

Cast members include Joel Torre, JC Santos, Mon Confiado, Jojit Lorenzo, Soliman Cruz, Joel Torre, Bela Padilla, and Tirso Cruz III.
