Rookie Chinese actress Shen Yue has bagged the iconic role Shan Cai in the much-anticipated "Meteor Garden" remake.
The producers of the updated version of the hit drama held a press conference on Thursday to officially reveal the cast, which included the 20-year-old, fresh-faced Yue.
She was joined onstage by the already-announced male leads, namely Taipei native Darren Cheng and Chinese actors Dylan Wang, Connor Leong, and Caesar Wu.
The spunky Shan Cai role was first popularized by Barbie Hsu in the 2001 original "Meteor Garden."
Yue is a newbie known for being cast in "A Love So Beautiful," an upcoming Chinese drama that tells the story of a tiny but energetic girl who falls in love with her tall, genius classmate.

A trailer for the drama was released last month, and was translated into English by fans, providing a glimpse of Yue's acting skills.
The much-anticipated "Meteor Garden" remake is being developed by the show's original creator, Angie Chai.
As with previous iterations, it will be based off the Japanese manga, "Hana Yori Dango." This is the third remake, following versions from Japan and South Korea.
All three aired on Philippine television.
ABS-CBN has already acquired the rights to the "Meteor Garden" remake, even if the series has yet to receive a release date.
