MANILA -- Kapamilya star Belle Mariano is the newest on-screen partner of Donny Pangilinan as they team up for the new iWant series "He's Into Her."

Produced by ABS-CBN Films, the series, which will be directed by Chad Vidanes, is based on the bestselling book with the same title by Maxine "Jiji" Lat.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Thursday, Mariano and Pangilinan shared their excitement of working with each other.

"Super excited po ako and at the same time nervous kasi sobrang dami pong fans ng book. Gusto ko pong ma-portray ('yung character) nang maayos at ma-meet 'yung expectations," said Mariano, who plays the female lead Max.

For his part, Pangilinan, who plays the male lead Dave, noted that although the book was written back in 2012, it remains relevant up to now.

"And I'm so happy that this also has a lot of fans from everywhere, hindi lang sa Pilipinas. Sobrang excited ako na mag-start, especially with direk and, of course, ABS-CBN Films. I just can't wait to show everyone a different take naman on 'He's Into Her' kasi inspired to by the novel," Pangilinan said.

"Of course, pressured kasi ang daming fans ng book. We will really do our best. I want to tell everyone right now that we will really do whatever it takes to portray the Dave and Max that they envision in the novel to the show because we don't want to upset anyone and ourselves as well," he added.

According to Vidanes, "He's Into Her" is coming-of-age romantic-comedy.

"Tungkol siya sa isang probinsyanang babae na pumunta sa Manila to have a better education at pagdating dito sa Manila ay ibang-iba ang pagkatao niya sa lahat ng tao sa paligid niya. Her conflict is would she change herself just to fit in or spark this change to people around her," Vidanes said.

"It shows how Gen Z's cope in their daily lives, kung paano sila mag-survive and to teach them na with their family and friends na they can [face] any obstacles they encounter," the director added.

Also part of the cast are Jeremiah Lisbo, Dalia Varde, Criza Taa, Melizza Jimenez, Vivoree Esclito, Joao Constancia, Ashley del Mundo, Kaori Oinuma, Limer Veloso, Gello Marquez and Rhys Miguel Eugenio.

The youth series will stream soon on iWant.
