MANILA -- "I've had enough, this is my prayer, that I'll die living just as free as my hair," sang Vice Ganda, as part of the comedian's touching number on "It's Showtime" Saturday to conclude the show's annual "Magpasikat" week -- where the hosts compete for charity.

The lyrics is from Lady Gaga's song "Hair," and much like the pop star's song, Vice Ganda's performance was about promoting the importance of being able to freely express oneself sans judgement, symbolized through the many wigs he has worn over the years.

The message is sincerely simple and clear: find who you really are and fight for it, no matter the criticism.

The performance took another level of meaning when it was revealed that the inspiration for the theme were those affected by an autoimmune skin disease called alopecia, which results in hair loss.

Referring to people with alopecia who choose to wear wigs to hide their condition, Vice Ganda said: "Malaking bagay na mahal natin ang sarili natin at tanggap natin ang sarili natin, kung anong itsura natin."

"Pero iyong paglalagay ng wig, sana maunawaan din natin na iyong mga taong nagwi-wig ay hindi dahil hindi nila tanggap ang itsura nila --iyon ay proteksyon nila sa mga mapapait na salita at pangungutya dahil maraming hindi nakakaunawa sa karamdaman nila."
