MANILA -- Arnel Pineda could not believe that after nine years, he is still part of the popular American rock band Journey.

Appearing on "Magandang Buhay" on Tuesday, Pineda admitted that he wasn't expecting to be with the band for this long.

"Kasi nung nag-audition ako sa kanila, sabi ko makapag-audition lang ako, makita ko lang sila, makapagpa-autograph lang ako ng mga CD ko na kinolek ko na mga album nila ay okay na ako. Pero to be accepted as the singer of the band ay napakalaking achievement sa akin," Pineda said.

Pineda joined the band as its lead vocalist in December 2007.

Pineda also said he has long been a fan of the band.

"Naaala ko 12 years old lang ako, naka-shorts lang ako pinapatugtog 'yan habang nagpu-pool ako, 'yan ang kinakanta. So who would have thought na kakantahin ko 'yun sa world stage with the band," Pineda said.

Pineda, who is taking a break in the country, is part of the upcoming concert "Powerhouse" on October 28 at The Theater at Solaire. Joining him are Michael Pangilinan, 4th Impact, Morisette Amon and Mayumi & Toms.
