The timeless masterpiece of film director and “Komiks” creator Carlos J. Caparas “Pieta” will soon be shown on Philippine television screens with its modern adaptation as an afternoon series.

The series will also feature a new Ryan Agoncillo as Rigor and Cherie Gil as Amanda who will portray the roles of a mother and son.

Alam mo kapag ABS-CBN tailor-made sa viewing public.

“Pieta” tells the story of a mother’s unconditional love, her willingness to sacrifice everything for her son. Pieta also follows the story of Rigor who grew up without a father and his journey to find his identity.

Pieta also depicts the reality of life, the sorrow of a mother and the fight of her son.

Caparas said that Agoncillo and Gil are good choices for the show’s  lead roles.

The well-respected director extended his appreciation to ABS-CBN for doing the remake of his classic movie.

Mother and child

To make the series more special two bright stars – Gil and goncillo --- will relive Caparas’ masterpiece.

“Rigor is a troubled child. Pangalawa the physical challenges of the role.

“Isang mapagmahal at madalamhating ina who wants to protect and will protect her son no matter what happens, talagang timing-timing ang pagdating sa akin ng script nito. At least with Ryan mayroon akong kagabay kasi pareho kaming nire-repackage ng panibago,” Gil said.

Gil added that the series will really touches the heart of everyone since it will really shows real life and the life of poor and rich.

One of the series directors, Don Cuaresma, said that the biggest challenge of the series is to launch Agoncillo as an action star and to deglamourized Cherie Gil.

Aside from Agoncillo and Gil, the series will feature respected actor John Regala who will portray the role of Miguel, who is out to seek revenge at Amanda.

“Pieta” also stars some of the industry’s most talented actors and actresses: Jason Abalos, Jairus Aquino, Janus del Prado, John James Uy, Layka Ugarte, DJ Durano. Niel Sese, Nina Dolino, Ynez Veneracion, Krista Ranillo and Jestoni Alarcon with special participation of Allesandra de Rossi as the young Amanda, Baron Geisler, Joross Gamboa, Andre Muhlach, Fred Payawan, Vice Ganda, Charles Christianson, Tanya Gomez, Evangeline Pascual and Paul salas as the young Rigor.
