'Paglisan', 'Never Tear Us Apart' top 2018 Cinema One Originals awards

MANILA -- "Paglisan" and "Never Tear Us Apart" bagged the most awards at the 2018 Cinema One Originals Film Festival awards night held at the Dolphy Theater in Quezon City Sunday.
"Paglisan," an animated feature about a middle aged couple, was named best picture. It also won best sound, best screenplay and the Champion Bughaw Full Length Special Award.
Whammy Alcazaren bagged the best director award for his work on "Never Tear Us Apart" which also bagged the awards for best cinematography, best editing, best production design and Special Jury Prize.

The two films also tied for best music.

Iyah Mina was named best actress for her role in "Mamu; and A Mother Too," while Alwyn Uytingco was named best actor for his role in "Asuang."
“Maraming maraming salamat po, ito po ay para sa trans (transgender) community, para sa atin ito. I-celebrate natin ang equality,” Mina said in her acceptance speech.
“Nanunuod ang nanay ko ngayon. Mommy, Daddy, ito na babae ako!” she said, crying.
Arron Villaflor bagged the best supporting actor award for "Mamu; and A Mother Too," while Mary Joy Apostol was named best supporting actress for her role in "Hospicio."
"Nasa Siargao po ako kanina pero buti na lang may available na flight and nakalipad po ako dito,” Villaflor said.
“I’m very, very happy. Masaya po ako ngayon at maraming maraming salamat po sa lahat ng mga tumangkilik ng pelikula namin,” he added.
