Yeng Constantino launches first live album

MANILA, Philippines - Singer Yeng Constantino shared her excitement over the launch of her first live music album under Star Records titled "Yeng Versions Live."

"This is my first live album, masaya ako na ginawa ko ito. Isa ito sa kakaba-kaba scene ng 2011 ko, 'yung show ko na live, at I'm very happy na gold (record) na siya," Constantino told abs-cbnNEWS.com during a press launch on Tuesday night in Quezon City.

Constantino, who is known for writing original compositions, said her album includes remakes of old hits.

"Minsan may part na nakakalungkot, kasi bakit ganoon, kapag remake bumebenta. Pero the good part ay nai-introduce mo ang old music sa new generation at nare-realize nila kung bakit may ganitong music ngayon, it's because may mga past artists na nag-impart ng music na ito," she said.

She admitted that it is not easy to record a live album since she has to do it only once on stage during a show.

"Ang pressure nito ay gagawin mo siya one time sa isang stage. Kapag nagkamali ka, 'yon na 'yon," she said.

"Yeng Versions Live" includes songs personally hand-picked by Constantino such as "Alapaap" (composed by Ely Buendia of Eraserheads), "Mahirap Magmahal ng Syota ng Iba" (composed by Jim Paredes of the Apo Hiking Society), "Paniwalaan Mo" (composed by Chito Ilacad), "Kamusta Ka" (composed by Rey Valera), "Even If" (composed by Cecile Azarcon-Inocente), "Kahapon Lamang" (composed by George Canseco), "Kahit Konti" (composed by Gary Granada), "Esem" (composed by Westdon Abay), and "Banal na Aso, Santong Kabayo" (composed by Westdon Abay).

It also has a medley of Constantino's signature compositions such as "Hawak Kamay" at "Salamat."

The album is a collaboration with music icon Jack Rufo, former lead guitarist of 90s hit band Neocolours.
