MANILA—There was buzz, there was fanfare, and their music was being played repeatedly. There was even a red carpet.

Emerging from inside a van, flanked by talent manager Gio Medina and their producer, Hallohallo Entertainment head Paulo Kurosawa, the girls of MNL48 were excited over being welcomed into their "new" home.

"Hindi pa rin po ako makapaniwala na nandito na kami," admitted Sheki, who acted as the center for 3 of the group's 4 singles.

Sela, one of the other more popular members, described the feeling of finally becoming a Kapamilya as a "dream come true."

Details remain little about the renewed contract, as Kurosawa begged off from revealing them, though it was teased that both him and the network have big plans for the group.

It can be remembered that MNL48 was formed at ABS-CBN, with member auditions broadcast as part of "It's Showtime".

The overall mood Friday afternoon was that the girls have earned the Kapamilya treatment, a payoff for the hard work they had put in their training and past performances.

Two years since their amateur beginnings, in front of ABS-CBN's big bosses, including president and CEO Carlo Katigbak, the girls showcased their massive improvement by singing an a capella version of their song, "365 Araw ng Eroplanong Papel."

Its lyrics goes, "Sige lumipad ka, subukang lumipad."

The girls need no second invitation to heed that call.
