James Reid, Nancy of Momoland team up for teleserye

MANILA (UPDATE) -- Here's an unexpected bit of news to come out this Friday -- James Reid is teaming up with Momoland's Nancy, who also goes by her new Korean name Lee Geu Roo nowadays, for a teleserye.

It will be produced by Dreamscape, will be titled "Soulmate," and will be directed by Antoinette Jadaone, whom Reid had previously worked with in hit shows like "On the Wings of Love" and other movies.

Both Nancy and Reid attended a story conference for the new series, which is an original, this Friday afternoon at ABS-CBN, a post by Dreamscape head Deo Endrinal showed.

The target release date for the teleserye is said to be January 2020.

Of the project, Nancy, who is acting in a drama for the first time, told ABS-CBN News' Ganiel Krishnan: "It's totally new to me -- in a different country, new culture, so I'm very excited."

Reid teased that, as the title suggests, it's a "one-of-kind" show that's about finding your soulmate.

He also admitted that he's feeling starstruck over his co-star since it's his first time working with an international artist.

The news of the teleserye comes shortly after ABS-CBN and Momoland's talent agency, MLD Entertainment, signed a multi-project deal that includes a travel show featuring the K-pop group going around the country.

Momoland is best known in the country for their hit "BBoom BBoom." The group also rose to fame among Filipinos because of Nancy's uncanny resemblance to Liza Soberano.

The group has already held several performances in the Philippines, and have featured the jeepney in their "BAAM" music video.
