MANILA -- "Sandugo," a new afternoon drama about young twins whose parents sold one of them off, had a good start in the ratings on Monday.
Curiosity over the pilot episode propelled the teleserye to a healthy 18% nationwide audience rating, beating out direct rival, GMA-7's "Dahil sa Pag-ibig," Kantar Media said.
Starring Ejay Falcon and Aljur Abrenica, it tells the story of twins Julius and Aris, who has a fatal heart condition. Because of this, their parents' attention gravitated toward Aris, leading to Julius growing extremely jealous.
This rift reached its peak when the parents sold Julius to help cure Aris' condition, forcing them to live on opposite sides of the law.
